BSA 331 - Week 6 + Exhibition & Research

In this week's class we learned more about the gamma curves for the F55. We did a few test shots on a grey card and a colour card.

All the test shots will be put into colour grading next week and hopefully I will get an example of the test shots with and without the grade once we do some testing with it.

Exhibition + Research

We have an exhibition that runs through from the 23rd March until the 13th April. This exhibition connects both our research paper and film making paper.

For this exhibition, I decided to gather all my work in progress and ideas from the proposal. This is what I did for exhibition. Emulating a detective board by linking one thing to another.

One of my artist model for this was Ignas Krunglevicius. The piece "Interrogation" was based on police transcript of a 2004 murder investigation in the States after Mary Kovic allegedly killed her husband with his shotgun.

Another one from him is the NWUO (Narrative With an Unexpected Outcome). The installation is a documented dialogue from a group therapy session in animated text. Each screen represents a different persona from the therapy session.

With this I hope in my future exhibition it will have more of a link with each other in both my final year project and research paper. Towards the end of the year I would like to try and emulate an interrogation scene through sound for my research project.

BSA331 - Week 5

In this week's class we finally did our proposal for our final year project.

After the presentation, we all learned on how to use and handle the Sony F55. I'm planning on taking the camera out for a play soon on my free time.

BSA 331 - Week 3 & Week 4

In these two weeks, I decided to work a little bit more on my story on how it goes.

I was told by Ash that I should develop more into the Exam theme idea that I had and see how it goes. Unfortunately, I could not get a story out of it and tried a different approach by sticking to my main idea.

I then came up with two simple but yet complex idea and started to work on my proposal plans with it too. Both ideas works the same way but would be told differently.

First Idea
The story begins with a well known gang member sitting in an interrogation room with the inspector and the main objective for the inspector is for him to get out as much as he can from the suspect (the gang member). He would then show a series of files/photos/reports of his wrong doings and all the people that he has murdered. When the inspector asks about it, the scene slowly shifts from the interrogation room to how the victim was murdered by the suspect. It cuts back and forth between each murder and shows signs/hints of some form of escape from the suspect and towards the end eventually shows the suspect removing the cuffs. It then shows the suspect going in for a kill and the credit rolls to end the short.

Second Idea
A well-known gang member has been caught. Sitting in an interrogation room with the inspector. The inspector is set to get out as much as he could from the suspect. A series of photos are put on the table and shown to the suspect. As the inspector start’s explaining, the scene slowly changes into what the inspector was explaining. It cuts back and forth between the story and the interrogation room showing or hinting some form of escape from the suspect and eventually shows the suspect removing the cuffs. It then shows the suspect going in for a kill and the credit rolls.

The only difference in these two ideas is one, the stories of being murdered is told while the other is a whole murder story told by the inspector

My main idea here is that like to show as little "flashback" scenes as possible and show more of the interrogation room. I'm not so sure yet but I will work on this more once the proposal has been approved.

A form of moodboard for me to refer to.

While I start to work on my proposal, I would need to choose which idea that I would like to stick with and hopefully no changes would be done.

During the night itself after the Think&Create premiere, it was perceived well by the audiences. While it was perceived well by them, in...
